Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’m climbing snowdon 😳⛰️ it’s ok you can all laugh…

As we approach 6 months without my darling husband, and as life is beginning to get harder without him here, I thought I’d share a bit about why I’m doing this and raising money for such an important cause.

The Isabel Hospice

From the moment we were put in touch with them, we were blown away by their care, compassion and kindness to not only Andy but to me and our girls too.

Their care really is phenomenal and without them, particularly during the later stages of Andy’s illness, simply doesn’t bare thinking about.

We had our own dedicated clinical nurse specialist, Janice, who would ring me every week, to see how I was coping and to check and see how Andy was doing,  much to his disgust (he bloody hated a fuss!) which is why they very quickly learnt, not to bother ringing him as he would never answer his phone 😂

Prior to Andy’s final visit to the hospice, he was admitted for a week at the end of July where we experienced the most incredible care, from then on he made it very clear I was to help raise as much funds for the hospice after he was gone.

Ever since I lost Andy I’ve been wanting to start fundraising with no clear idea on what I wanted to do and when I would feel ready, until I received a message from Janice on Christmas Day, she explained she would be taking on 12 mountains throughout 2023 and she wanted to know if she could dedicate one of those in Andrews memory, and that it would in fact be an honour to her. I was blown away and of course more than happy for her to do that, it took me nothing more than a few seconds to ask if it would be ok to join her, luckily she welcomed my suggestion!

We started discussing if I had a preference on which mountain to climb, I don’t know many!! However I knew I wanted a challenge, we settled on Snowdon, which later turns out, together with his friends, they had discussed going up and coming down on their bikes 😳 i think I’m glad he didn’t get round to that, I’m not sure I could have taken the anxiety after the time he managed to break his arm in 3 places just trying to do a jump no bigger than a foot high 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️😂

So, on the 1st April, together with Janice, I will climb snowdon, it might not be much of a challenge for some but I’ve never done anything like this, my fitness levels are pretty shocking and I’ve certainly not been the healthiest lately, I’d be beyond grateful if you can donate anything even just a pound to help me raise vital funds to enable the hospice to continue to provide the much needed care to those with a terminal illness, you never know when you might need them.

This one’s for you babe ♥️
